Cat Girl – The Legend, The Misrepresentations and The Truth – The Only Official Response

The Daily Mail many years ago received a sensational story about a girl who believed she was a cat, from a regional nebulous unidentified primary school welfare officer.

If you know me and my work over the years you know who, where, and why…We still live here, we have our own lives which we very much want to get on with…

Cat Girl is real… She is one of my daughters. The biggest travesty of all this is her mental health has become the chew toy of The Atlas Network in its war on human rights and using trans people as a wedge to attack our rights. What my daughter experiences is not an “identity”. It is a Trauma Response. It is dissociation. It is not conscious, she does not decide to respond this way. Nor is it a current symptom. She is an adult now, engaged, employed, studying. Deserves to be left to get on with her life.

The Trans Community do not deserve the attacks they receive nor the weaponization of my daughter’s past symptoms against them.

However nor do those who may share similar symptoms with my daughter deserve to be told its a myth and was manufactured. It is very real, when she was a little girl from about the age of five when she doesn’t feel safe, she shuts down and behaves like a cat. Purs, Crawls on all fours and sleeps in cupboards…there never was any litter box, those are school shooting kits in the USA. It was very difficult and took a very long time to find her the help and support she needed, for people to understand what was happening for her.

CPS discovered the leak from her primary school by the Welfare Officer back in 2012, we have received formal apologies from the person responsible, the person responsible has spent over a decade learning more about pediatric mental health and how better to respond to children in distress… by supporting them, listening to them, reserving judgement, and working with professionals who have a better understanding than they do, rather than running to the tabloid press.

She now supports her school community with lunch programs to help the students and families who are their school.
